Are you affected by the UK VAT rate change?

UK and Ireland VAT Rate Change

1st December 2008

In the UK and Ireland the standard VAT rate will change on 1st December;

  • The UK VAT rate will change from 17.5% to 15%

  • The Ireland VAT rate will change from 21% to 21.5%

How does this affect you?

Companies that are VAT registered in the UK or Ireland will need to update their accounting systems to accommodate the new VAT rates that are applied to invoices.

In addition, if you receive invoices from customers in either the UK or Ireland, you will need to ensure that your accounting systems are set-up to accept the new tax rates.

The new VAT rates apply from 1st December 2008.
